Green cleaning VS traditional household chemicals. Who wins? I’m sure you’ve heard of green cleaning or have seen an item claiming to be “green”, or “organic” on a shelf at your local grocery store. But what is green cleaning and how does it differ from the traditional chemicals we are used to? But more importantly, is it safer, and does it get the job done?
Have you ever cleaned a small room with bleach and the smell got trapped on your fingers and in your sinuses. I’m certain the entire time you were worried about getting it in your eyes or on your clothes. Have you ever used Windex and bleach in the same setting? Did you know that chlorine and ammonia when combined can create a lethal gas? These are some of the reasons people will opt to go green. So what is green cleaning? Green cleaning can have a lot of different definitions, such as taking the do it your self approach to making cleaning solutions i.e. white vinegar and baking soda to going to your local grocery store and purchasing a bottle of all purpose cleaner that is derived from plant based materials where it’s active ingredient can be thymol which is a component of thyme oil. Both are great options.
